Hexanchus andersoni JORDAN, 1907

Hexanchus andersoni, an extinct Sixgill shark, is very similar to H. gigas in size and tooth form. These teeth are uncommon in Bakersfield deposits but are still found with much more consistency than many other species. These teeth may measure up to 4-1/2 cm in width. Normally, 7-8 conules are present, but these specimens may (rarely) bear 9 to 10. As with any Hexanchus teeth, they are only rarely found complete.

Notorynchus sp

A seven-gilled shark (Notorynchus) is also present in the Middle Miocene deposits of Bakersfield, but is surprisingly found less frequently than its six-gilled counterpart. Teeth are comparable in size with Notorynchus teeth from other faunas.
