Serrate Cosmopolitodus
hastalis-like teeth are often ascribed to C. escheri
(AGASSIZ, 1843). Evidence sugests that C. escheri
may be restricted to the Eastern Atlantic and these Bakersfield teeth might better
be compared with the undescribed Peruvian teeth represented in the
Sacaco dentition (Upper Pisco
Formation, c 5myBP).
